Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that contributes to wound repair and skin structure. As time takes its toll on your skin, you can restore the lost hyaluronic acid through dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM®. This filler helps you rebuild facial structure and reduce signs of aging. Candidates

You are a good candidate for JUVÉDERM® if you have a desire to rejuvenate your facial features and restore your lost facial volume without resorting to invasive treatments or surgeries.

The earliest age at which you could start getting JUVÉDERM® injections is 21 to 22. However, depending on the circumstances, some JUVÉDERM® injections may be administered to individuals who are at least 18 years of age. Patients should be committed to the treatment process and have realistic expectations.

Moreover, you should be in good health and have no allergies to the ingredients present in the filler. Also, to reduce any side effects, you should be a non-smoker and drink alcohol in limited quantities. How JUVÉDERM® Works

JUVÉDERM® works by restoring volume to your facial structure through the active ingredient, hyaluronic acid.

There are various types of JUVÉDERM® solutions to cater to all types of needs. At OHMI Medical Group, we provide the following:

• JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC: This JUVÉDERM® product is used to restore lost volume in your face caused by age. It is frequently used for improving the appearance of your cheeks and chin but also to reduce wrinkles.  
• JUVÉDERM® Ultra: This JUVÉDERM® filler is frequently used to treat moderate to severe folds and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds or other types of deep wrinkles.
• JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus: Thicker and stronger than JUVÉDERM® Ultra, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus is a good choice for those who have deeper wrinkles and folds.

Recovery

Depending on the location and volume treated, recovery from JUVÉDERM® can last for up to one week. Patients can resume most daily activities right away, as the technique only involves a few injections. Symptoms during recovery will include temporary swelling, slight bruising, soreness, redness, or numbness.

Most symptoms can be alleviated with a cold compress, but you should avoid using it for two to three hours after the treatment. If there is pain associated with dermal fillers, you may take anti-inflammatory pain medication to alleviate it.

It is usually advised to avoid exercising for about 24 to 48 hours after getting the treatment performed to prevent too much bruising or swelling. Also, no matter what filler you use, it is important that you refrain from touching your face after getting the injection unless specifically instructed to do so by your healthcare provider. This will prevent the filler from moving where it is not supposed to. Moreover, you shouldn’t sleep on your side either, as this may also cause the dermal filler to move. Sleep on your back instead.

Results

The first results of JUVÉDERM® injections can be seen immediately after the substance is administered. The mere presence of hyaluronic acid will plump, smooth, and offer additional volume to the face. That being said, it can take up to two weeks until JUVÉDERM® settles and you will notice significant improvement.

You will begin to notice deeper wrinkles fading in about two days after getting the injections. It is recommended that you stay hydrated and avoid excessive sun exposure to maintain the results. The JUVÉDERM® effects can last for about 18 months, but throughout this time, the substance will be slowly eliminated by your lymphatic system. However, the plumping will stay in effect for an average of nine months.

To extend your results, it is recommended you schedule an appointment 12 months after your last injection. Subsequent treatments will usually not require a full dose, as the plumping effect is not completely lost. Full injections are only given after 18 months.
